The goal of the STEM STARS Institute is to establish a teacher residency academy to recruit, license, induct, employ, and retain middle andsecondary school science and mathematics teachers for high-need schools. The Alliance is a partnership among Jackson State University, Xavier University of Louisiana,and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and several diverse urban and rural school districts in the three-state region, and the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. The project will produce over 120 licensed science and mathematics teachers.
